Weber's Smoque Introduces Smart Grilling at an Affordable Price Point

In a move to offer premium grilling experiences at a more accessible price, Weber has unveiled the Smoque grill, a smart pellet device that embraces innovation with versatility. This announcement follows the company's introduction of the Searwood smart pellet grill in early 2024.

Innovative Features with Smoque

The Smoque grill, pronounced "smoke," is designed to offer a wide temperature range from 180 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, retaining its function as an all-around pellet grill. Distinctive to the Smoque is its simplified controller which maintains functionality with a single knob for ease of use, and supports two wired food probes. The inclusion of an LCD panel ensures that monitoring grill temperature, food status, and timers is straightforward, with the data also available on your smartphone via the Weber Connect app due to Wi-Fi features.

Advanced Cooking Box and Vent System

A major redesign within the cooking box features a vent system between the burn pot and cooking grates, supplanting the traditional Flavorizer bars known in previous models. According to Weber, this new vent system improves air and smoke circulation around food while simplifying grease management through a removable pan. This practical design change allows ashes to collect easily, easing the cleaning process.

Weber simplified the controller and display on the Smoque.

Weber's Rapid React technology assures quick recovery in temperature post lid opening, with the capacity to reach target heat in approximately 15 minutes. For flavor enhancement, the Smoke Boost setting can be engaged seamlessly with the turn-and-press control. The Smoque also integrates well with Weber's accessory lines, offering additional functionalities like fold-out shelves and a grill caddy, available at extra costs.

Competitive Pricing and Availability

Weber's Smoque grill is competitively priced at $699 for the 22-inch model and $899 for the larger 34-inch XL variant, making them accessible options when compared to their predecessors, the Searwood series. Both versions are anticipated to hit retailers and the company’s website later this year.

Apart from the Smoque, Weber has also announced enhancements to its gas grills and flat-top griddles. Notably, the Spirit gas grill now features Boost Burners and an improved digital thermometer as seen in other Weber models. The Slate griddle series also sees a new 28-inch variant, ensuring rapid heat-up times and consistent performance.

These new additions, such as the Spirit grills ranging in configurations and the new Slate design, broaden Weber’s portfolio. The Spirit series is available starting at $399, while the expanded Slate griddle will arrive in early 2025.
