Ubisoft Pushes Back Release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows Once Again
Ubisoft has announced a "strategic update" that includes a delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the much-anticipated game set in feudal Japan. Originally slated for release on February 14th, the game will now launch on March 20th.
"As part of the renewed focus on gameplay quality and engaging Day-1 experiences, it has been decided to provide an additional month of development to Assassin’s Creed Shadows," said Ubisoft in their press release. "This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community."
This marks the game’s second delay; it was initially set to be released on November 15th before it was postponed to February.
In addition to the update regarding Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft announced they have "appointed leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders." Ubisoft promised to "inform the market in accordance with applicable regulations if and once a transaction materializes."
Ubisoft has been facing challenges recently. The sales for Star Wars Outlaws were less successful than anticipated, and the company has decided to shut down XDefiant, a live-service shooter.
