Fans of The Witcher franchise have been eagerly awaiting more news about the latest animated film, and the wait is finally over with the release of a full-length trailer. This new development comes just in time as The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is set to premiere on Netflix on February 11.
A key attraction of the film is the return of Doug Cockle, who will once again lend his voice to the character of Geralt, a role he previously portrayed in the video games. Additionally, Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey reprise their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier, respectively, from the live-action series. Although it is rooted in the universe of the TV show, the storyline is inspired by a short story by Andrzej Sapkowski, the mind behind the franchise.
The narrative, derived from "A Little Sacrifice," follows Geralt as he explores a series of peculiar attacks in a coastal town. This leads him into a dispute between humans and merpeople, set against the backdrop of a submerged city, making for an intriguing plot.
Directing the film is Kang Hei Chul, notable for his work as a storyboard artist on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Animation is being handled by Studio Mir, a renowned South Korean studio known for their work on projects such as The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Studio Mir's involvement is expected to maintain a high standard of animation, aligning with their esteemed reputation.
Exciting developments are also underway in The Witcher universe beyond this animated film. A fourth game focused on Ciri is in the pipeline, and the fifth and concluding season of the TV series is anticipated to hit Netflix in 2026.
