Security System Shoots Paintballs at Intruders: A New Approach to Safety

Innovative Security System Demonstration

Revolutionizing Home Security

Doorbell cameras have become a common installation in households around the globe. As technology advances and becomes more accessible, connected security systems are increasingly popular. However, traditional systems have their limitations, particularly when it comes to actively deterring intruders or pests.

The Eve PaintCam: A New Frontier

Enter the Eve PaintCam, a novel security solution that boldly diverges from the typical passivity of its counterparts. With the tagline "Safety Simplified," Slovenian startup OZ-IT has introduced a lineup of systems at CES 2025 that brings a fresh twist to security—by shooting paintballs.

The Eve PaintCam was unveiled following successful crowdfunding campaigns on platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. The system, comprising four different models, aims to actively deter intruders and wildlife with a creative approach.

Target Identification and Deterrence

OZ-IT’s crowdfunding videos illustrate the system’s effectiveness against both human and animal targets. While the models Eve, Eve+, and EvePro are primarily designed for human intruders, the cleverly camouflaged Simba model is dedicated to keeping wild animals at bay.

The Eve PaintCam stands out with its intelligent detection capabilities. Depending on the model, features may include pet detection, face recognition, and animal recognition, ensuring tailored responses to detected threats.

The Arsenal: Paintballs with a Twist

Each system employs a range of paintball projectiles, including some that are infused with capsaicin—the spicy element found in chili peppers—claimed to be "legal in most countries." This unconventional approach is coupled with "special projectiles for specific animals" and even UV paint-filled balls to assist law enforcement in tracking down marked intruders.
