Motorola Unveils Mid-Range Moto G and G Power with Big Screens, Batteries
Motorola begins 2025 by introducing two new smartphones aimed at redefining the mid-range category: the Moto G and the Moto G Power. Branded as "entertainment powerhouses," these phones promise exceptional photography and immersive media experiences at affordable prices.
Impressive Display and Audio Features
The standout entertainment capabilities start with the display. Both phones feature a bright 1,000-nit screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth streaming, gaming, and web scrolling. This visual experience is paired with robust speakers equipped with Dolby Atmos and Bass Boost technology for high-resolution audio output.
Shared and Unique Features
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, the devices provide reliable performance. They both feature a 50MP main camera, though the Moto G Power includes optical image stabilization for clearer images and an 8MP ultrawide camera with auto-focus and Macro Vision. While the Moto G has a 6.7-inch display, the Power stretches slightly larger to 6.8 inches.
Distinct Charging and Camera Abilities
Both phones come with a 5,000mAh battery that promises over 24 hours of use, complemented by 30W TurboPower for fast charging. However, the Moto G Power takes a step further with 15W wireless charging capability. Additionally, this model boasts an IP68 and IP69 rating, offering superior protection against dust, water jets, and submersion up to a meter, coupled with a robust body and Corning Gorilla Glass.
Design and Launch Information
While both devices share a similar design aesthetic, the Moto G Power's enhanced durability differentiates it further. The Moto G, lacking wireless charging and featuring only a 2MP Macro Vision lens, remains an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. It offers a balance between functionality and cost, resisting merely splashes, not submersion.
The Moto G hits the market on January 30, priced at $200. A week later, on February 6, the Moto G Power will be available for $300, targeting users seeking more robust features for an additional cost.
