Microsoft Establishes New AI-Focused Engineering Group
Microsoft has announced the formation of a new engineering organization designed to accelerate the development of AI infrastructure and software across the company.
Leadership and Structure
Jay Parikh, who previously held the role of VP and global head of engineering at Meta, has been appointed to lead this new division. Parikh will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and will oversee teams responsible for the company's AI platform and development efforts.
Prior to his new role at Microsoft, Parikh contributed to technical infrastructure and data center initiatives at Meta and served as CEO of the cloud security startup, Lacework.
The CoreAI Organization
This new entity, known as CoreAI — Platform and Tools, is an integration of Microsoft’s existing Developer Division (Dev Div) and AI platform teams, as well as talent from the Office of the CTO. This reorganization is aimed at reinforcing AI as a primary focus within Microsoft's developer teams.
Strategic Focus on AI
In a recent internal memo shared on Microsoft's blog, CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the company’s priority for the upcoming year, emphasizing "model-forward" applications that aim to "reshape all application categories."
